GOVT. TAKES STEPS FOR THE WELFARE OF THE DISABLED PEOPLE OF RANGPUR

RANGPUR,  - Speakers at a wheelchair distribution ceremony today said
the present government has taken effective steps to ensure welfare,
dignity, honor and development of the disabled population.

They stressed the need for mainstreaming the people with disability
with all development activities and termed them as integral part of
society deserving all basic rights like other privileged sections.

Dusthya Unnayan Sangstha (DUS) arranged the ceremony with the
assistances of Karmir Hat and financial cooperation of USAID at
Gangachara upazila parishad premises with UNO Abu Jafar in the chair.

Gangachara upazila chairman Majibar Rahman Pramanik attended the
ceremony as the chief guest and distributed wheel chairs among 20
physically challenged men, women and children as the chief guest.

Upazila vice-chairman Khairul Alam Babu, Upazila Agriculture Officer
Dr Shaikhul Arefin and Executive Director of DUS Chand Mian addressed
the occasion as the special guests.

The speakers thanked the present government led by Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina for increasing allocations, launching quota systems for
higher education and government services through BCS examinations for
the disabled population.

They put emphasis on mainstreaming the disadvantaged groups by
creating adequate opportunities for them also in various income-
generating activities to help them lead decent lives.

They suggested equal treatments to the disabled people in every sphere
of life to make the best uses of their talents, flourishing their
capabilities in socio- economic activities.
